11/04/08 (Lila, age 16 months, but just shy of 17 months)
More fun in the office...enjoy! (You can see Lila use the sign for "play" in this video.) Additionally, you'll see her doing what I think is called "assimilation." (Gotta double-check this with Nance.) That is, Lila bends new information to fit her existing knowledge. So, for example, because she knows the word "ball," anything new she discovers that is round and colorful (a balloon, an apple, an orange) is also a "ball." Likewise, right now, Lila knows what a "shoe" is, so anything that goes on feet (socks, sandals, slippers) are "shoes," too. And pretty much all animals are "dogs," lol. It's actually pretty fascinating.
