Thomas Segall-Shapiro from the Rice team told me about their project to biobrick a synthesis pathway for the phytochemical resveritrol (of red wine fame) and to instantiate it into Yeast to make Biobeer - a healthier beverage.

Rice was one of the 6 runner-ups for the Grand Prize and also won the "Best Presentation" award in addition to a Gold Medal at the iGEM 08 Jamboree.
