What on earth has Devil to do with this music video? One is a run-of-the-mill morality tale, the other is a girl breaking free of the drudgery of modern day existence.
Where's the common ground? And lets be fair to John Erick Dowdle - M.Night was a producer.
And the quote at the start provides no link (direct, metaphorical or conceptual) to how a society becoming atheist causes a girl to grow a tail....
Just didn't work --- seems like nudity for no real reason Its a popular way of getting a lot of hits quickly - !!! Im not being religious - not even artistic in a choreographic sense - Just like a well produced song with many instrumentation, it should also work stripped down with only vocals & just 1 acoustic instrument. This video is stripped down and it doesnt work with clothes on or off. Hope your brave enough to keep my opinion up here as long as this video is up here too. PS I do like your other works, I think your a clever film maker.
If a naked woman represents freedom ... you have no concept of freedom itself - The video slams the freedom of religion at the start ... where is the right to freedom of spirituality, You don't understand freedom "JERK" ... This video is nudism without a concept or an idea. Just would have liked to see a reason for her nudity & it just not communicated in the video. The speech at the start, states "Reason", Well there is no reason for her nudity in the video. I guess these words sounds pretty to your ears but in truth you don't have a concept of the meaning nor do you believe in them.
You don't need to be so harsh, really. I thought about what you've said but I came at the same conclusion - a naked women could be a metaphour for freedom ... at least in my interpretation. The church is wellknown for influencing the moral standards of a society, and one of it's effects is chastity. Stripping your clothes and dancing in a theatre ( a place with a sober atmosphere) is a attitude against the church values, it's some sort of a protest. Very shortly, this is how I see things in this video. Insteed I have a problem with the tail. It makes the metaphour ambiguous becouse.

Why are people so freaked out by the naked body. It's a beautiful thing if filmed well.
At the beginning of the video it said: "The only demons we need fear are those that lurk inside every human mind. Ignorance, hatred, greed and faith."
In the case of this harmless looking girl the inner demon is greed I think. She would love to be in that building and be a theatre star. Her inner demon is symbolized by the tail and the demonic sounds and effects at the end. Thats how I understand it..
