The Nikon Coolpix P6000 has a neat "interval shooting" feature: every 30 seconds to 60 minutes, it'll take another full-resolution photo or add another frame to a time-lapse photo.

I tried it out during a trip to NYC for a business meeting. Behold, my 4 hour commute, by rail and on foot, in 30-second intervals.

Great choice of music. It was nice to see a couple shots of our wonderful new bridge and our train station in New London. Lunch looked like it was worth the trip alone.

I've been considering buying this camera for some time, your review might just tip me into digging up some cash. I agree with your philosophy - a pocket camera in the hand is worth 2 SLRs in the bush .. Here's my pictures from a train stills-movie, made with an S6 Nikon - snipr.com/art18 - on the London Metropolitan Line.
