How did you stabilize the 500 in the van? bean-bag? Monopod? tripod? hands :-) ?
I really hope to bring something close to your shots back home!

I use the 500mm/4. I stabilized it with a beanbag and sometimes with a Manfrotto Superclamp or LLRue Window mount.
