Enderby Island is a small pest-free island within the Auckland Islands group south of New Zealand within the Southern Ocean. The first humans to discover it were early settlers of New Zealand, the Maori, approximately 700 years ago. But neither them, nor the Europeans to re-discover it ever succeeded in colonizing the remote island.
