it reminds me of Malick's 'Days of Heaven'; the period, location/landscape, and his use of natural light.
This mix between really nice images and disturbing one is really interesting.
The day light outdoor stuff - you guys using tons of nd's, shooting at magic hour, what? Nothing blown out, perfect exposure with all highlights and no noise...
