This video was shot and edited in a little over 24 hours for the Vimeo Weekend Project "Looking Closer" ( vimeo.com/groups/weekendproject/forumthread:239709 ) - all to be shot with a macro lens and no wide shots. These dolls are all around 2 1/2 - 3 inches, but my macro lens makes them fill the screen and come to life.
Thanks to Gunther Machu for telling me about the theme for the Vimeo Weekend Project - you can see the beautiful video that Gunther submitted here: vimeo.com/22157896 .
I have been working on a series of videos using Marx vintage dolls, dollhouses, and furniture...and just got the miniature telescope recently (not vintage or Marx). I work with implied meaning in the tradition of Surrealism...where meanings are suggested and it is up to the viewer to solve the riddle on their own. In other words...stories that evoke meaning, not explain it.
Shot with a Canon 7D, a Tokina 100mm f2.8 macro lens (for all the shots), and it was edited in Adobe Premiere Pro CS5. Most of the shots have no post editing applied, except for slowing down the timing. Thanks to Mike Collins (@Mikespins) for the Kodachrome camera profile that I used...made most of the shots ready straight out of the camera!
