A place that most people can never go - a Rail Yard that is getting worked on. In this case, repairing track that has been ignored for more than 50 years. Every tie (sleeper) in the ground was at least 50 years old. Most were probably 60.
A crew from the Friends of the East Broad Top replace 29 ties on track that has not been able to handle a steam engine for a long time. We had to dig out the remains of the old ties, put in new ties, Spike them, and get the dirt back where it belonged.
