2 FROGS IN THE WEST
Directed by Dany Papineau
2011 | Canada | 97 mins | RATING: 18A
Wanting more out life, Marie Deschamps decides to leave her native Quebec and head to the ski slopes of British Columbia despite her family’s protests. Dismal failure awaits her as she arrives in Whistler lacking English skills and finding the town off-season. Thankfully she meets a friendly face from Quebec who invites her to live in a huge house filled with interesting people. With this support, she is able to find employment and soon things are looking more secure and more interesting. Marie enters into a lesbian love affair with a co-worker, befriends a gay male roommate, partakes in drugs, parties and has to deal with unresolved family issues. Marie now begins to wonder if life in Whistler was the worst decision she could have made or would it lead to something better like finding real love? (KB & RM)

Fairy Tales Presentation Society
Fairytales Presentation Society is a not-for-profit, charitable organization located in Calgary, Alberta that focuses on showcasing local and national queer artists. As our name suggests, and bylaws state; we showcase and celebrate queer artists of all artistic mediums including but not limited to film. Our artistic endeavors strive to provide a safe and respectful venue for members of all communities to celebrate queer culture. While the term queer often refers to people who are LGBTTQ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, two-spirit and questioning), Fairytales understands queer to also include those who subscribe to culturally, politically, artistically, and otherwise alternative and innovative ways of contributing to society. We see queer as a vista, a way of looking at the world differently- with an eye towards diversity, criticality and inclusion.
