Ben and I just got a super8 camera and this makes me SO excited to start using it.

This is my new favorite clip on Vimeo!

Did you shoot everything with a super8? It looks incredible. I love it!!
  • focusmatic 2 years ago
well it's a great thing that you are going on super-8, I'm sure you'll enjoy it!
All the shots are mine, except the intro which is an old Bolex ad and few still-frames.
    Thanks Victoria
(let me know when you receive your first processed roll!!)

is it mixed with sixties industrial film of super 8
god I still love super 8... if only it didn't cost so much to shoot.
  • focusmatic 2 years ago
    hi Alex!
every shots but the intro are mine.
    It's true it's a bit expensive...but means..it really really worth the price!

    JUDAH APPROVES.
where do you digitize your super 8? i have lots of it laying around, but isn't it expensive as all hell to digitize???
  • focusmatic 2 years ago
    hi,
I send my rolls in a place in Paris.
It's true it's a bit expensive, but you can always do a DIY transfer using a projector and your video camera.

  • focusmatic 2 years ago

i received one but i think they don't develop the super 8 anymore here in belgium .... love it !
  • focusmatic 2 years ago
it depends...what kind of film is it?
don't worry, you'll find a lab in Germany.
  • Stéphane Jallet plus 2 years ago
merci je regarderai sur l'allemagne alors.
  • focusmatic 2 years ago

  • Stéphane Jallet plus 2 years ago
  • focusmatic 2 years ago
de toute façon ça vaut le coup d'essayer...

damn our human curiosity and demand for progression in technonolgy!!
i'd be more than happy to live in a world where everything was shot on super8.
  • focusmatic 2 years ago
quiet right, we'll still be able to watch super 8 movies in fifty years, not sure about our video stuff on cd's, dvd's, tapes, hard drive, cards....and that's one of the reason why I'm shooting a lot with FILM.
  • 3d60 2 years ago
keep it up DVD's are already deteriating, museums have a huge problem with format obselessence.....

I have the feeling you've watched Man Ray's shorts and the avant-garde stuff the Soviets produced in the 20s/30s. Stan Brakhage too? Maybe? This is breathtaking!
  • focusmatic 1 year ago
    thanks Ray!
now i have to check for Stan Brakhage!

Pretty damn awesome. Just out of curiosity - where do you get your super 8 film processed? I've been researching various places in the states but it's hella expensive. There's always the option of doing it by hand, I suppose. But anyway - really rad.
  • focusmatic 1 year ago
    thanks Bernard!
it was shot using K40, so at that time it was process in Lausanne (Switzerland) before the lab closed.
Now i usually send my stocks to Germany.
