Beside Still Waters: Karen Jensen Story - smaller version

For the last 20 years, Transition House has been providing a safe haven for women and their children who are survivors of domestic violence. By providing housing, counseling, and communal support for 6-9 months, the Transition House takes over where emergency shelters leave off: by equipping the women with the skills and self-assurance to lead a fruitful life, independent of their abusers.

This is the first in a series of the women’s stories. The music is a specially licensed arrangement by Darin Au and vocalist, Rachel Wong, of the David Haas song, "You Are Mine."

Five former residents of Transition House were interviewed for this series. Aspects of Domestic Violence will be explored, including unique issues in Hawaii. The need for transitional programs like the UCC Transition House will become apparent throughout the series.
