Brookside, a quaint old mining town located just north of Birmingham, was settled by Slovaks in the 19th century. Today, most Slovak and Russian speakers are gone, but with the revitalized Five Mile Creek Greenway and this delicious food festival, the town certainly seems to have it going on.
