James Koshiba gives an overview of Kanu Hawai'i and the Campaign Challenges planned for 2011 at a training workshop held April 10, 2011, for the "Live Aloha in Your Neighborhood" Challenge.

Starting the last week of April, 2011 Kanu Hawai’i asks people across the islands to begin the process of building stronger communities, one block at a time, drawing on our culture of aloha. We ask islanders everywhere to start with one action: Reach out to people “3 doors down” in both directions from the place you live, and get together in a backyard, garage, building lobby, local coffee shop, or other place within walking distance. It can be as simple as a talk-story barbeque or a 20 minute street clean-up.
