This is a recorded version of a lecture I gave at the Tanzquartier in Vienna as part of an event organised by Sandra Noeth that brought together dancers and theorists around questions about responsibility. My main argument is that there is a kind of responsibility that is not about obligation but that comes from an open, creative, ethical way of thinking. I discuss this in relation to Steve Paxton's 1972 piece 'Magnesium'.
