I shot two panning timelapses, hours apart, and blended them together very crudely.

I'm going to see if I can make the blend a little better with After Effects.

Hey Tom, Jerry; (sorry couldn't resist) that is surreal. What an idea to combine the two-which b the way were seamless, to me.

Very, very creative and well executed.

That blend was PERFECT! I didn't read the description before watching it, and I was amazed- I thought it was a single shot, and that you were just awesome at day/night transitions.

Great work man, this is a shot of a lifetime.

I tripped upon "koyaanisqatsi" many years ago and have played with timelapse a few times over the past few years. i'm so happy to see quality work like you are producing.
i do have a few questions for you.
how are you powering the camera for such long exposures? and what size file, on what size cf cards are you able to capture for a long exposure collection?

    Awesome work! Keep it going!
  • Tom @ Timescapes plus 8 months ago
I mainly use simple 12V lead acid batteries for power. Lots of big CF cards! The Transcend 32GB CF is a great value.

Hi Tom I have a question for you.
How do you manage to shoot long clips when there's a cap of 3.99 gigs limit per clip in the 5D Mii
I willing to buy the 7D and it has the same limitation of 3.99GB per clip. Thanks.

By the way you do good stuff I love nature and time lapses :)
  • Tom @ Timescapes plus 16 days ago
These are RAW still photos not video.
  •
  • Josh Enos plus 2 months ago
That is amazing how you do that. Where would someone who doesnt know that much about this process get started? Software, ect. I know thats a loaded question but I have a decent camera that I know can take great pictures but I feel its capabilities are not used to the fullest because I just dont have the tricks down on how to get those shots. Thanks.

  • Hello Tom
    Nice work! Real Amazing stuff!
How are you blending the shots? What program?
I just can't wrap my head around how you are getting so much light on the landscape at night with the stars shots. Any hints are appreciated!
    Keep em coming!

    Simple fade blend in AE!
