Official music video for "Lack of Sound" by Nuke the Moon.
Directed by: Tyson Banks and Kurt Armstrong
Cinematography: by Nuke The Moon
We decided to record a song and a music video in one weekend. Kurt and I had been brewing concepts for a while, and what we ended up with was a combination of a bunch of ideas.
Literally everything you hear and see we did ourselves in two days. We recorded the song in Garage band and we took turns doing the filming by passing it off. If you want something done right...
On Saturday we got up at 7:30am and started garage saling for old TVs. We found the best deals to be at actual garage sales where we could bargain with the owners, but unfortunately, we needed more than we could find so we had to buy some more expensive ones at thrift stores. Saturday afternoon and night we recorded Vocals, Bass, Trombone, Guitar and Keys. We also built and finished the set.
Sunday we finished tweaking the set and then started recording drums around 3pm. We got the track cut and after some tests and practicing the choreography we started shooting around 10pm. To get a more interesting look and to match the frenetic pace of the song, we shot at half speed so we could double in post. We nailed it on the third take and transfered it to the computer. Fortunately, with a one shot video, editing doesn't take too long, and after doubling the playback, and aligning with the audio, all I had to do was the grading in Final Cut and thats what you're looking at.
Shot on a T2i with a modified Jag35.com rig with lots of handles.
