The Lyon Arboretum at the University of Hawaii, Manoa is fortunate to have among its resources several Native Hawaiian practitioners of traditional arts and science.

The niho oki was used for many varied tasks, including shaving hair, cutting food, carving kapa beaters and stripping bark.
