This is a short sample I took with the Nikon D90 - my first encounter. The guy in the shop let me put in my own memory card and attach my own lens. This is the Sigma 20mm f/1.8 lens. I'm pretty much just playing with depth of field - this is how it came straight off the camera.

and what do you think about it ?

well, I currently have a Nikon D80 so I am already familiar with most of the features and ergonomics, etc. But what really stands out over the D80 is the larger, higher resolution display, LiveView, and quality of HD Video. I was very impressed by the quality of the video, though there appears to be some sort of flicker in this - and I am not sure what has caused it. Even with my Sigma lens this video is sharp. I also envy the CMOS sensor, as the D80 has a CCD sensor and accumulates awful purple blooming in long exposures which ruins photos. I'm not sure of the low-light capability, but at the moment I am stretching the D80 as far as it goes. I would be curious to see comparisons of the two at higher ISO's.

It's not a huge departure from the D80 but has some much needed feature upgrades and is well worth the upgrade in my view.

this is all due to the lighting , the camera hates fluorescent lighting

Ah I thought it may be the fluorescent lighting. Thanks!

Check out my video Nikon 1.4...it'll show you how to get rid of the scrolling lines in the beginning.

Ohh, so you wait for it to not have lines, then lock exposure. I'm guessing there's a range of shutter speeds that conflict with the scrolling nature of fluorescent lights.
