Ed Nazarian racing his RRE Super Touring Evo 9 at BRP #13CW on Saturday, April 9 and Sunday, April 10, 2011. This video is a compilation of both races.
Saturday: During his Warmup session, Ed found out that he needs new wheel bearings. So he knew he had to back off to make it through the weekend. He qualified P4 of 8. He had a strong start in the race by progressing from P4 to P2 on L1. He dropped back to P3 on L2. Then his car shut off in Cotton Corners in L2. We suspect the issue is his kill switch. Ed was able to restart his car, and finished the race. It’s a good thing he was able to do that because luck was on his side...Ed got 3rd place. Reasons...Scott Howards car shut off in L11, and the other drivers were DQ for incorrect forms. If Ed didn’t finish the race, Scott would have taken 3rd.
Sunday: Ed pushed a little harder in Q, and set his fastest time for the weekend with a 1:57.746. He qualified P3 of 8. He had another strong start but still played it safe to make sure he could finish given the condition of his wheel bearings. Towards the end of the race a CMC2 Mustang had an off on L10. The Pace car was deployed and they did around 2 laps with the Pace car. This was good and bad news for Ed. Good news is that this incident put Ed in a position to battle with John Gordon and Scott Howard for P1. Bad news is that Ed had another ST2 car behind him. Ed was able to maintain P3, but John Gordon was unlucky because he had an off on L1 of the restart before Cotton Corners. Because of Johns misfortune they all moved up one spot...Scott was P1, Ed was P2, and the Team Bimmerworld BMW was P3. Ed ended up finishing this race in 2nd place.
With bad wheel bearings, even worse lap times, a little bit of strategy, and a whole lot of luck...Ed took 3rd on Saturday and 2nd on Sunday. Congrats again to Scott Howard and John Gordon for setting the pace that weekend.
