Elements of Debussy
This is a sample of footage and sequences which may appear in my documentary about the French Impressionist composer Claude Debussy.
See debussypiano.com for more information.
It has some of the interviews, scenes, people, and piano works that will appear in the final film. But it is a rough cut that may change completely. Debussy scholars Marie Rolf, Richard Langham-Smith, Row Howat, and Stewart Gordon appear, and pianist Anthony Tobin
anthonytobin.net plays the piano music.
Scenes are places that were relevant during Debussy's life with the exception of "Footprints in the Snow, which is temporary footage.
I am interested in constructive criticism, positive or negative. What works for you, what does not, what would you like to see?

Also great effort, making this interesting documentary. From the movie-making-side, I would just suggest, adding some narrational voiceover. I have never made a documentary myself, but the "usual structure" is like ... interview - pictures ( coming with music in this case ), some narration, again an interview, etc.
It makes the whole thing more colorful.
Debussy or classic music in general is passing more and more into silence ... which is sad, I think. Many interesting information about Debussy in this movie, but it is a little bit too dry and interlectual presented.
Do you know the Tomita-version of Debussy from the 80s ? Great effort, reminding people on this great composer by using contemporary sounds ( of the 80s ).
That would be the goal ( if I would like to make such a movie ), reaching people of the 21th century, showing them, that good music is timeless.
The scenery ( Paris ) is already good and you took nice shots, fitting well ... just the arrangement of the whole thing should be a little bit more thrilling.
Nevertheless, I enjoyed your movie as a big Debussy-fan ... nice, that people are still making things like this at all.
I agree it is dry in its present form. I will add my own narration and analysis, as well as more music and images to illustrate what is being said.
This music is timeless, indeed, and it can live through images and playing in our day.
I do appreciate your feedback and hope to get more in the future!
