This video was shot at the Sri Sri Radha Krishna Temple in Spanish Fork, Utah. Their annual Festival of Colors was a great opportunity to test the slow-mo capabilities of my Cannon 7D. After hearing Zoe Keating perform this song in Portland, OR I was inspired to edit this footage to her beautiful music. I hope that she and her son enjoy the video.

Nice. The festival of colors makes for some awesome footage, doesn't it? This one definitely goes into my pool of favorites. Here's another on on youtube from this year's festival: youtube.com/watch?v=zqsRFAJVN9c (watch it in 1080!)

Great job! Isn't amazing how two people can shoot the same event and end up with such different videos. I really enjoyed what you did.

Lots of gaffers tape and plastic bags did a pretty good job of protecting the gear. I do have a load of laundry that all turned pink because of a stray shirt I wore at the festival.

I changed my profile pic to a shot of my camera at the end of the day. 8)

Like Daniel said, you made my day. Loved it! There is something about capturing the beauty of the joy in a crowd's smile and its happiness that moves me, i cried. You made it possible for me to experience the freedom, the colors, and the music.

By the way, I have a 7d too and would love to know, shutter speed, ISO, lens

    Cheers!

    Such a gorgeous video!

We wrote an article about it over here: portable.tv/film/post/holi-colours-in-the-desert/

The slow-motion works perfectly, and that moment at 2:30 with people leaving/arriving is hilarious.

Amazing work, so impressive. Hope the camera was unscathed!

    Love Portable

inspiring, beautiful. pure awesomeness video. reminds me of woodstock! :)

btw, what kinda paint is that they're throwing? or where could i get it?
  • Brian Thomson plus 9 months ago
It is Holi Powder. It has the consistency of corn starch. The temple sells their own seasonally, but a quick google search will find you places to purchase from. I would recommend the Indian colors. They are much more vibrant.

Brian, I was greatly moved by your video awhile back and recently created a collidescopic remix/redux of it. The colors and movement were just prefect. I hope you are cool with that. I've credited you, etc. If not, just let me know and I can remove it.

    enJOY!
