Looking at Chad Vernon's good example, I've made a slightly simpler srbf triggering system, initially in xsi, but part-way throguh coding a more thorough plugin for maya. It's uses are for smoothly driven corrective blendshapes, generating normal mapping to reduce reliance on blendshapes, driving sss scatter values, cloth values, dynamic values, and pretty much any material/dynamic/attr values.

The Ui's come complete with preset options for generating/sculpting blendshapes in-pose, generating normal maps, attatching to material/object/synaptic attributes/properties.
