Dream A Little Dream
Dream A Little Dream was my final studio project while at uni. The brief for the project was to explore autopoiesis by creating an environment that would benefit from human interaction, but could also exist when this human element is removed. We were also required to use a Wiimote as the method for interaction.
To remove any confusion that may have stemmed from a device like the Wiimote - “Which button do I press?” - we placed ours inside a plush ball. Users instinctively know how to play with a ball, either by themselves or as a group, so this decision gave us simplicity as well as a means for collaboration.
The concept for the installation was based around the different forms of control and perception experienced while dreaming. Context for the dreaming environment is presented on-screen via written poetry, where the letters and words shift based on the movements and interactions of the user(s). Different levels of movement will move the installation through three states, where the user's perception and control of the environment is altered.
The project was a collaboration between myself and three other students.
