On Tuesday 19 April 2011 at the Commonwealth War Graves Commission's Ranville War Cemetery near Caen in Normandy, France, Flight Lieutenant Henry "Lacy" Smith was buried.
The 27 year old Australian was killed as he flew his Spitfire in support of ground forces which had landed a few days previously on D-Day.
The ceremony proved to be very emotional, with Lieutenant Smith's family amongst the mourners.
