Sea Monster - the New Stereo Expressionism HD
1 year ago
Excerpt from "Sea Monster", a new film by Gray Miller, writer/director of "2K3" (www.2k3film.com), that explores the world of a veteran who develops seizures after a head injury in the war. She undergoes a corpus callosotomy, a.k.a "split-brain" operation, which severs the ties between the left and right halves of her brain to reduce her seizures.
"Sea Monster" constructs juxtaposing imagery and effects that are often different in the left and right eyes of the stereo 3D audience to create a new kind of 3D expressionism.
We use the creative formal potential of 3-D stereoscopy to not only create the illusion of depth, but also subjectively put the audience in the split-brain protagonists' head as she struggles with the disorienting neurological side effects of the surgery.
