This is my first attempt at a timelapse sequence. This was shot from December 2010 to March 2011 in Iceland. When I started this project I was hoping to get more footage but the weather has been difficult, there has been a dense cloud cover here almost every day since last christmas.

This is inspired by Tor Even´s awesome aurora timelapse: vimeo.com/16917950

I recommend going full-screen and speakers/headphones turned way up!

Workflow:
Images imported into Lightroom and tweaked, exported to jpeg and then into Quicktime Pro(thanks to Philip Bloom for making an excellent tutorial).

Equipment:
Canon 7D
Tokina 11-16mm f/2.8
Manfrotto Art 058
Aputure Ap-TR3C Timer Remote

Music: Bain du Matin - Mondkopf (used with permission)

Glæsilegt alveg hreint! Sérstaklega hrifin af því hvernig þú zoomar inn en hraðinn á norðurljósunum helst. Líka frábærar staðsetningar!

A love your shots. Especially with the buildings. Super job all around.
I just got myself a timer and have been thinking about a project ... but you got not only Iceland by the aurora borealis. I'm jealous!

Stunning work, blown away. I was lucky to see a 4 night display of Northern Lights in Iceland in September. Life long dream fulfilled... now I want more... I'd move to Iceland if I could! I have some photos here flickr.com/photos/solyad/ but I did't get anything like the richness of the colour you achieved. Again, stunning work, the still images alone are amazing...well done...
  • Agust Ingvarsson plus 3 months ago
Thank you. I´m glad you had a chance to see the northern lights during your trip in september, it has been raining here almost every day in oct/nov.
  • John Morgan 3 months ago
wow I guess we got really lucky with the weather. We had 13 beautiful sunny days and 2 wet ones which was way beyond what I expected. I was expecting what we get on the Irish west coast - grey and rain ;) Also nice use of Mondkopf. I didnt know about that band and its good music to code to at work...
