This is a piece that was created in partnership with the Nickelodeon Theater in Columbia, South Carolina.
Since 1979 the Nickelodeon has been located at the corner of Main and Pendleton streets. In late 2011, the Nickelodeon will open in it's new location at Main and Taylor.
As a part of it's evolution, the Nickelodeon has created the Helen Hill Media Education Center. The center will be used to educate both students and adults on filmmaking and media literacy, with classes and other resources provided year round.
I created this piece in After Effects. Having used AE in the past to a much lesser extent, where most projects were maybe 20 or so layers and a few hours to complete, I learned a great deal trying to incorporate and time out this project - finishing with over 170 layers and a full week plus of time committed.
A special thanks to Karis West for her hands and her time. Also, thanks to Jared Ronin for his unwavering commitment to art and being a sounding board at 4am. Forrest Clonts, thanks for your feedback and for being my friend for some unknown reason as long as you have.
The music was provided by Columbia, SC band "Pan." The voice talent is Marcus Thomas.
