Amazing! :) Just wondering, how do you do motion blur effects on the characters and the backgrounds? Do you blur parts of each frame manually? Or is it a technical effect achieved with software?
  • Lee Tao 9 months ago
    Thank!

All the elements are separted on different layers so just blurring each layer will get the aperture effect, and with scenes with 3d camera you can key aperture settings on the camera itself depending on where you are focusing.

Thanks a lot for this nice piece of animation.
Somehow it makes me think about an animation by Tomasz Bagiński entitled Cathedral.

Wonderful work. The colors are especially charming.

It only lacks a little bit of intensity at the end, you don't really have the time to feel much the menace from the seed harvester (don't see him often enough, maybe ? Or not enough animation on him, so you don't have the feeling he's a moving danger ?).

Other than that, it's a true success. Congrats for the good job !
  • Lee Tao 9 months ago
Thanks, For the production I had to cut some scenes especially near the end cause there wasn't enough time to finish all the scenes. But yeah you're right!

  • Lee Tao 9 months ago

Yeah, no problem. I´m sorry but my english is horrible, i´ll try to explain myself.

I´m so impressed. I really like the texture, so professional, a great brushes and color selections.

And also like the animation, i´m surprised that was done with photoshop (I know the "animation tool" but i´m still a beginner).

And, if you spent 6 mounth aprox in a well-done-2minute short.. Do you think that is a good idea a first attemp with a 30-seconds-short?

Thanks, and congrats for your work.
  • Lee Tao 9 months ago
    whoa, comment Advisor haha

Thanks Javier, and yeah, definitely start really short, 5-10 seconds of really solid animation would be great and is a lot of work for even just 30 seconds(at the average of 12 drawings per second).
  • Javier Moreno 3D 9 months ago
I never heard about Comment Advisor, but i can assure that it works :P

So, you recommend 5-10 seconds at 12 frames per second to begin. What frame-rate did you use?

    Lee, thanks for your attention!
  • Lee Tao 9 months ago
12 drawings, each drawing takes up 2 frames so still 24fps. It can vary sometimes so you might actually do more drawings, 1 for each frame.

I love the texture near the seed's arms. It's great to see animated stuff in photoshop. Everytime I search for photoshop animation tutorials I get GIF and banner animations. There should be one great tutorial and your video should be featured. I'm glad you didn't animate in flash!
