I've been recording music for a couple years. This is the first real song I've ever made with someone else.. I've always wanted to have a female vocalist... and Jessica is just that. She thought she couldn't sing... ha! This song would not be what it is without her.

This video is very basic (obviously), but what do you expect from a Canon Powershot and Windows Movie Maker?
A girl and boy used to live together in a cabin-style home away from the city in Alaska. He came home one day, happy as usual to come back to the person and the place he loved, but as soon as he walked in the door, he had a bad feeling. He didn't listen to his conscience telling him to stop walking, and then he found the girl lying on the floor, dead, or "sleeping on the floor." Jessica and I both sing the part about them hoping it's just a dream, because both the girl and the boy felt that way for different reasons; the boy, alive, in disbelief of what he has found, wishing it wasn't real, and the girl, now a spirit or a lone soul or whatever you believe in, wishing she hadn't felt that way and wishing she didn't have to hurt the boy. Then he found a note with her, which is what Jessica sings on her own. The last segment with both of us singing is the boy and the girl talking about their home, using the same words as in the beginning, but the tone is now accompanied by the death and loss of the girl.
Losing a loved one is one of the hardest things you can face in life, especially a soul mate, if you believe in that. I suppose this is a song about one of those stories.
--------------------------------
in that house on the hill
down the road from the sea
through the woods into the field
underneath the big spruce trees
up the driveway, singin songs
past the old boat on the lawn
up the steps and through the door
creak, creak, creak said the wooden floor
walkin in my door way
i thought i heard someone say
"take a few steps back son,
she aint here anymore, babe."
didnt listen to the voice
"man, let me make my own choice."
four more steps forward, i took
just as my whole world shook
please
let this all be just a dream, cause i dont need
any more than what is gone, baby please
just tell me its all a dream, baby please
just wake up, baby please
and the note said:
im sorry, babe, i had to go
i couldnt be here anymore
it was too good for me to share
so now im sleeping on the floor
on the floor, babe
im sleeping on the floor
oh my soul has walked
out the door
in that house on the hill
down the road from the sea
through the woods into the field
underneath the big spruce trees
was the house that was the home
of a girl on her own
and her boy whos now alone
cause shes sleeping on the floor
shes sleeping on the floor
on that creaking wooden floor
sleeping on the floor
she lay sleeping on the floor
