We decided to document the creation of our logo for Rosewood Visuals. It was the first thing we sat down and created when we were first forming the company.
We wanted to be recognized by one, iconic image. It was to be used throughout all of our branding.
I sketched the image onto a piece of clay linoleum, then carved it out with wood carving tools. I used oil-based printing ink and a brayer to apply to the carved out image. I then applied pressure to the paper while it was laying on top of the inked image. The result is a printed image of the negative area that we did not carve out.
For us, this ended up being the style and image that we wanted to represent our company. Portraying that of being purveyors of classically styled imagery.
