"Compulsory Exercises No.1" - Rhythm Cut
This is something I shot using a toy camera from the 80's called a PXL2000 - it records to video and audio onto a cassette tape. The aesthetic, I think, is lovely.
The concept went like this:
Participants were asked two questions repeatedly: "Do you have any regrets?" and "How many times a day do you wash your hands?" The participants were asked to repeat the question and answer it.
This particular cut dwells on the spaces of time before questions are answered and also separates participants from their voices to see if narrative can be derived using cuts, sound, and music. The audio track is a mix of all their voices in reverse and mixed together.
