In support of Icho Daiko's work on a new Bon Taiko arrangement, this video explains my recent thoughts on the basic slant-drum strike. I have been trying to make my strikes more deliberate and aesthetically appealing by paying closer attention to the timing of each hands' pull-up. It's a fun challenge to time the raising of each hand in relation to its strike, rather than the music tempo or the other hand's movements.
