Great video again Eric! One thing I’ve learned about printing is to be EXTREMELY specific about what you want. Make sure your are clear with all the specs or you wont get what you wanted. Even if working with a one color design, if you don’t say the exact size you want it, poof ya got a bunch of shirts with the wrong size print! Putting the pantone colors on the layer is a VERY good idea. The one thing about having a local printer is they can literally show you the ink to make sure its the color you want. So yeah..good video! Helping folks from making easy mistakes.

brilliant eric - couldn't have come at a better time for me, just going into my first print run.

last night i printed out all my designs (Illustrator will spread your designs over several pages if bigger than A4) - I then cut them out and taped them onto blank tees of all sizes - and tried them on - well, the ones i could get into. I found this really useful in visualising placement and whether the design is too big or small. I then re-printed at say, 110% or 90% until I got it just right.

I have no idea if this is normally done but I found it incredibly useful and gave me confidence to say to my printer that 'the size is right, please don't adjust'.

    Useful?

Yikes, that's a lot of work! And I guess the important thing is that you're happy with the results, so if it works and gives you confidence, go for it.

Typically, though, certain sizes will just work regardless of the design. At least, that's my personal preference. And right now, big prints are in, so I just tell my printer to go as big as possible on the screen (which translates to the maxed out size on a girls' small tee, about 13" wide by 16" tall).
