I've been in Seattle for the past week working on a documentary. Here's some footage I threw together of what I've been observing.

2007

great footage & hey the music is fine stuff too.
  • Ian Lucero plus 3 years ago
Thanks CT. All the music is what the 2 musicians were riffing but I'm not sure if that will be the final tune that they will actually perform. Yeah good stuff.
  • CTD3 3 years ago
    Certainly brilliant riffing.

Wow Ian, this is VERY nice. Like the overall look and feel. Very "inside" and "behind the scenes"
  • Ian Lucero plus 3 years ago
THanks eric. I loved the light in there. I was lucky.

Thats what I was going to say. I always feel privileged and VIP after I watch these kind of clips.
  • Ian Lucero plus 2 years ago
I have the same feeling, when I shoot this stuff.

Just trying to share the rad experience.

Thanks for letting us "tag along" through your videos!

Yeah, very nice behind the scenes feel. Lovin' it much.

Another thing: the quality is insane! What are your export settings?
  • Ian Lucero plus 3 years ago
    Rob thanks!

I've discussed my Vimeo Export settings here:
    vimeo.com/forums/topic:1018

They are settings for the program Compressor.

It takes a while but you get nice results.

You can also try a really great program called VisualHub. You can get the same results in less time but the file sizes are much larger.
  • Rob Mientjes 3 years ago
Thanks! I don't have Compressor but could adapt the useful bits to iMovie (yah, I'm poor). It's taking a long time, but it'll look good!
  • Ian Lucero plus 2 years ago
iMovie is excellent as far as a 'free' editor goes. You can transfer the Compressor settings to Quicktime Pro and get similar results. But I think better Value than Quicktime Pro ($30) would be VisualHub (also $30).

    It's faster.
  • CTD3 2 years ago
Ouicktime pro is $30.00 for sure but Visual Hub is $23.32 but techspansion has a great free conversion program as well called iSquint.
  • Ian Lucero plus 2 years ago
Rad! an even better deal than i thought. I shoulda checked first. Still is pretty affordable for what it does. Yes i forgot to mention iSquint. rad little app.
  • Rob Mientjes 2 years ago
Right guys! I'll have to check out Visual Hub then. Thanks!

Beautiful shots as always ! I love the one at 0:49.
  • Ian Lucero plus 3 years ago
Thanks Remyyy. I'm glad the vimeo encoder chose great tumbnails and chose that one first.

It's tight that even this seems like sort of a documentary... so that means your actual project is sure fire
  • Ian Lucero plus 2 years ago
    Thanks david.

These get better and better with every one you do! Did you use other mics besides what is on the camera? What other accessories for your dvx do you rely on and are must haves if one were to get a high-end camera?
  • Ian Lucero plus 2 years ago
    Thanks aaroneous.

I find your documentaries really inspiring. You are a great editor (not to mention the camera work).
  •
  • Yaya! Ian, everything looks and sounds yummy. This is strange that this is in Seattle. It looks like a really ethnic show - something I should see in Spain.
