such is the title of the Beach Boys Song. So I finished this morning an application to go to Basel for Fasnacht. Wanting to celebrate the relative ease of the essay writing, I went to the Met to see the Morandi show. Then up the granite stairs to see the Renaissance Love paintings. This made me need to see the Picasso Marie Therese paintings at Aquavella. Disappointing to say the least, but there was one painting and plaster head, and a pencil on canvas piece that made it all worth while. Let's face it, three good Picasso's are worth 99.99999 of all other paintings you might see in a day.
I went to my old gallery: Allan Stone and saw them packing up art crates to go to Basel art fair.... Not actually Basel, but Miami... still finding Basel there seemed like a good sign, so I marched down Park Avenue to the New Museum. They had a show of Elizabeth Peyton paintings. Let's just say that after Morandi, Picasso, and the Renaissance, they didn't hold up.
So I beat it out of there and over the Manhattan bridge to visit a friend and a few of my old paintings and drink a little gin.
