31. Aaron Dignan: Why The Future Of Work Is Play
9 months ago
The CEO of Undercurrent and author of 'Game Frame' talks about how to make life more interesting and engaging through the use of game mechanics.

Nice talk... but we should point that we only are excited about thing we have interested (therefore not only play), and that is pretty much why people get bored at school — because we always have to study things we are not interested about and do not see as a short term reward.

Oh, and if you are bored at work... don't. Change the job, change what you are doing at you job or whaterever — this may be not be your job or even you day.

  • The only flaw I see in Dignan's model is that games are easy, life is hard.

However, his ideas are really ingenious and I'd love to see educational providers & corporations follow this model to implement efficient learning methods for students & employees. Society needs this.

This is a great speech. Imagine if this were implemented in the classroom, where 'quizzes / tests' weren't something students feared but looked forward to. Imagine if grades meant something besides 'getting into a good college'
