Incredible! They look like power wheels in stop motion with that focus - totally takes any intimidation factor of it haha.
  • Caroline Martin 1 year ago
Exactly! It was so well done. I especially loved the shot around 2:40, watching the audience react to shiny things.

KEITH!!! More please! My buddy Hugh (hughforte.com/blog/) introduced me to you because he is tilt-shift obsessed...

    And he created an addiction.

    Sweet!

    Thanks Hugh.

has to be the best use of a lensbaby I've seen. (that is a lensbaby, right?)

My mind just doesn't want to accept these aren't matchbox cars.

Hi - This is made with TS lenses & timelapse photography. Cheers.

It's a relatively simple technique using a bellows-style camera lens custom made into a digital large format video camera, then splayed at, I'd say, 5 frames per second and sped up. I did some stills in college using this technique, it's fun stuff. Great job and concept, you beat me to the punch!
  • Jared Foster plus 1 year ago
I went to see how awesome your videos were but then you didn't have any. How else did you experiment in college?

Keith, that was an incredible video mate.

I was with Chris at the venue (the guy who runs downundermonsters.com) - that was some super duper lens you had there!

Awesome shots, makes it so much look like stop motion models. Hey at least I made it in the video too!! (Yellow vested guy directing traffic on the floor).

    Well done.

I really love the saturated colors as a difference to your earlier Sydney Harbour movies.

I think this movie has a some kind of message about monster truck events. It makes them seem a bit childish or naive, in my opinion.

Anyway, do you use a digital slr or just a really nice video camera (like those of canon's)? I know, shooting this kind of video's with a dslr just kills your shutter really fast.

Keith, I have to say your work is absolutely amazing! The way you capture and present these subjects is so fascinating and mezmerizing. I never even knew about tilt-shift photography until I saw your work here….So, thanks for inspiring me. I have a Canon 20D and have been thinking of getting a TS lens. I’m not sure which lense to get, the 90mm, 45mm or the 24mm. Do you have a preference? Which lense do you use for your video’s? There is a lot of construction going on where I live and would love to shoot some of the construction sites. Anyway, thanks for showing your work!

I've really loved the videos you've done so far, but this one really blows me away. So cool and visually mesmerizing...I showed it to a friend of mine who said, "This is the kind of thing you want to play over and over on a loop if you ever have a party."

no one mentioned the air quality? its like a modern day gas chamber, that you pay to enter. did they serve your drinks in lead cups. i cant even believe that's legal. the fire marshal or whoever is in charge of air quality should be held accountable.

This is probably, but not by much, the coolest of your videos (I think, anyway). I was so intrigued by this that I started to look up how you made them; I got only a few lines into the Wikipedia article on Tilt-Shift Miniature Faking, and realized that I'd rather leave the mystique there and not ask the magician to reveal his tricks.

Hi Keith, love your work! What timing intervals do you use on your trigger for this look (not the tilt shift look)? Is this 2-3 shots a second, with each shot taking 2 frames? Love it!!
