the maps app on surface was actually pretty cool. it was kind of a mash of google earth and google maps. you can pinch and zoom, search by city, and then search for shops / bars / etc.. but sadly the interface for entering text is still an old school keyboard via USB. no pop-up keyboard for surface.. mini-fail.

so I think maps app on the iphone has it beat. but that's probably because of the development time its had. (trying really really hard not to be an apple fan boy now..)
