Two centuries of popular printed ephemera are the inspiration for Printed Matter -- an audio/video exploration of media saturation in the United States. Using as a springboard Marshal McLuhan's idea of "the medium is the message," Printed Matter recontextualizes a diverse compendium of editorial and advertising content in an attempt to create a new form of subliminal communication.
The majority of source visual material for Printed Matter was collected during the closing of Main Street Ephemera, the former Brooklyn store of the artist's father.
