In the Friday 21st November some foreign pilots got in trouble in Arco da Calheta/Madeira Island, when the meteorological wind came down hitting them with strong gusts and creating very strong turbulence.
For those who know the flying conditions of Madeira Island, know that we usually fly in the lee side of the Island, it protects us from wind (usually NE) creating good conditions. But that day the wind was too strong and at sundown the heat was gone and two pilots ended up in the water. It was a good thing that a fishing boat came by, and helped one of the pilots.
