Mathilda was the best choice of all the dogs we considered. Now Daniel has his own dog (which he shares with me) who lets him carry her around without giving him much grief, unlike our other dog, the Jack Russell Terrier.

Less than a year old, Mathilda spent her first few months in the pound. Her last day before scheduled for euthanization, Mathilda was adopted by my Twitter pal, @iWriter, whose heart broke when she saw the goofy little pup. Mathilda & her siblings had been put in a plastic bag & tossed to the side of the road. A kind stranger saw what happened & that the contents of the bag were moving a little, and decided to rescue the two pups who were still alive.

@iWriter and her family gave Mathilda to us after they had loved her back to good health & good spirits. We couldn't ask for a sweeter dog. She also gives our JRT a reason to raise her heart rate other than to chase squirrels & birds or bark at strangers.
