A Day in the Life: Chimpanzees at the Jane Goodall Institute's Tchimpounga Sanctuary in Congo

This is so profoundly moving. I would love to live there and help in any way I could. Our closest relatives need our help...
God Bless you for all that you do.

  • Thanks Lisa, we work very hard to create a caring and nurturing environment for the more than 140 chimpanzees we care for at Tchimpounga. Many of these animals have had a very sad past. Many, being victims of the bushmeat trade had their parents killed and were taken and put up for sale as pets in markets around central Africa. We take these animals, which don't make good pets, and do our best to care for them for the rest of their lives. If you want to help I hope you would consider becoming a chimp Guardian with the Jane Goodall Institute - you can do so here: janegoodall.org/chimp_guardian/default.asp. We rely on people like you to help us support our sanctuary. Thanks for watching.

Thank you to all of you who work at the Jane Goodall Institute. I will share this touching video with friends. Recently I learned of your Roots and Shoots programs for the environment and commend these initiatives! The goal to plant 1 million trees in Mongolia is fantastic. Hats off to your Shanghai Roots and shoots team. regards, Lisa
