for the past 26 years 16 expeditions have tried and failed to climb one of pakistan's 8,000 meter peaks in winter.

on february 2, 2011, simone moro, denis urubko and cory richards became the first. cory is now the only american to summit any 8,000 meter peak in winter.

the journey nearly killed them. cory carried a small camera and filmed the ordeal constantly.

this is their story, as seen from the raw, honest perspective of cory's lens.

in festivals 2011.

Not sure if I can say "great video" as the conditions look very rough and I read about you getting almost killed. But I got triggered to see the rest, where/when is this possible?

Maarten - we just finished the film last week, it will be in Festivals starting with Telluride next month, then we will have it available on our website or Amazon on demand!

Amazing and I look forward to seeing this movie!

I'm not uptight but I think the use of the word f*ck was not necessary given that the imagery and subject matter does not need that kind of embellshment.

Plus, you would be able to have the trailer posted in more places.
  • Forge Motion Pictures pro 8 months ago
Thanks! We certainly disagree about the use of the word FUCK but we appreciate the feedback nonetheless
  • Mark Frederick plus 8 months ago
LOL - yes we do disagree about the word FUCK but I no worries because your movie looks amazing! Peace.
  • Paul Prozesky 7 months ago
Got to agree it seemed pretty unnecessary. But stoked to see the full movie.
  • Cory Richards plus 6 months ago
I agree that it would be over the top if it weren't exactly what was going through my mind...but given the situation...those were the EXACT words bouncing around the inside of my O2 deprived brain. We do appreciate the feedback however and are stoked that you guys like the trailer. Try to catch the whole film if you can...it may have a little more context then. Cheers!
  • billdey plus 6 months ago
I don't understand this. Maybe because I'm not an english-speaking person it doesn't shock me equally.
But I know I appreciate more a realistic movie that uses the real words from the situation, even (especially!!) in my language.
I've seen the whole movie in Ax Les Thermes, and from what I've seen, "what the fuck am I doing here?" is the only sentence to describe such effort, pain, distress and misery one can feel in that situation.
Great job guys, this is an amazing film

Andy, you are very right. I am a bit wet...I mean really...c'mon...it's not like I soloed Denali in the winter or anything. Beers when I am in Kendal...why say no when it feels so good to say "another round on me!"?

I watched it yesterday here in São Paulo, Brazil, at Rocky Spirit Festival. It´s a powerfull film, and I can´t congratulate you enough Cory, for the effort on filming and for the open and transparent way with which you took us along on your journey..Fantastic! It was probably the movie that touched people deeper at the festival.

To see the film, find one of the thousand Banff World Tour Screenings, or a Reel Rock Tour Screening, or a Mountainfilm Tour Screening, or an EOFT Tour Screening. That's 2,000 screenings around the world - one in your town. Watch it on a big screen, with friends. Its better that way.

Thank you for such an amazing film! While I know the film was about the climb and Cory's struggles through it, it's nice to see a film convey what so many of us think and feel while we're in the thick of things on a climb!

I just watched the digital download, great film, very poetic especially with the tight voiceover, and great atmosphere. Really get a feel for the physical burden of the trip. I do have to say that I thought it was going to be a full-length film, so I was disappointed when I realized it was only 18 minutes long. It would have been nice to see more footage of the various stages of the climb, as well as the tent talk among the climbers.
