post-process: convert avi to prores 422 mov with quicktime pro (so i could import to premiere pro on mac), basic clip edit, mb looks b&w, and convert to h.264 in premiere pro. i decided to skip the 'stair-stepping removal' on this one.

    Wicked use of the D90! When you say 'stair-stepping removal' are you referring to the rolling shutter effect? Is there a process for reducing that?

    there are three main (separate) issues with the d90 - stair-stepping, rolling shutter, and horizontal lines when shooting in fluorescent light. stair-stepping is something you have no control over until post. here's the thread on how to fix it: dvxuser.com/V6/showthread.php?s=9c776178d1c2f76cd473713a117f2010&t=149663
    rolling shutter is something you have to learn how to control - just keep the camera as steady as possible at all times! unfortunately there isn't a perfect solution to avoid horizontal lines when shooting in fluorescent light...
