This was a demo to my Programming for artists class in generated content. Each space invader is made at random. But the seed is the name of the person. So the invader and the color s unique to that name.

I have to credit the wonderful inspiration of Jared Tarbell's Invader Fractal work.

hmm. Well it is random, and the word is the seed. How do you get a seed from a random result? That's not a bad question.

Maybe I haven't explained it right. The invader is an 8*8 pixel grid. The left 4 rows of pixels are flipped over the right side. the on/off state of each pixel is randomly chosen. In this tool the random seed comes the name that is entered. So if you type "chicken" you'll always get the same invader.
