Real great presentations. Thanks to internet hard working honest resellers earn 1-3% on a camcorder. Nearly all smaller shop owners with a lot of camera knowledge had to close or just print photo's now.

Yea, I'm conflicted on that. On the one hand, Authorized Dealers and intense competition mean that cameras are almost always very competitively priced - you don't even have to think about it. On the other hand: How in the heck can anyone possibly compete with B&H?!

Is there an equivalent thing happening on your side of the pond?

Yes many Europeans order at B&H! (Their yearly presentations at IBC 2008 Amsterdam increased also)

What do you think about soniccameras.com?

Are they for real... They are selling brand new FX1 for $999 only... Im from Philippines ( Asia)
  • Videopia plus 1 year ago
    1. B&H sez: $2,800 for an older FX1.
    2. soniccameras.com is NOT a Sony Authorized dealer
    3. soniccameras.com has 211 ratings at sellerratings.com ("very dissatisfied"), they are from Brooklyn and the bbb.org sez: "Based on BBB files, this business has an unsatisfactory record with the Bureau..."

Your BS Meter should be pegged flat against the top of the register and alarms should be going off!

Oh that was so sad=(.. I thought I could have my dream camera for just low price....

    So you're only recommending BHPhotovideo.com?

Do you know any credible stores that offers cheaper cameras?

    Anyway, thanks for the response....

I am NOT endorsing B&H - I don't want to endorse anyone! Besides, B&H doesn't need my endorsement. What I am saying is that if anyone undercuts them by a significant amount, I would be very very suspicious.

And while I am not endorsing B&H, yes, I buy from them quite often. And Adorama. And J&R. And Musician's friend. And Newegg. And... lots of great companies.

Ok... Thanks a lot Sir for those....

Now I really need to save more money to buy FX1...

    Cheers!

Great presentation as usual. I like the use of the b-roll. i am guessing it is mostly from DJ.
  • Videopia plus 1 year ago
Yea, all DJ. I don't usually spend so much time with the silly peripheral stuff, but this topic is so light that it needed a boost! And I never thought in a bajillion years you'd catch me using a JB in the background or using *gasp* an animated transition, but, there you go.

Great information. I was sort of hoping to hear some comments about how some dealers try to offer very cheap prices on some of the larger models, but you actually have to call to find out they rarely ship with lenses.

Oh, man, no I had NOT seen that. Thanks! That is sooo cool on a few levels, including the irony of the photos of the photo shops - this could be a coffee table book some day!

Nice video! I just realized i bought my Casio EX-FH20 from a scam store. I got the camera and ordered 2-3 day shipping. Too bad it took about a month.
