ABU DHABI 2011 - DEFINITIVE VERSION, English intro
9 months ago
Finally, the definitive version of 'Abu Dhabi - 2011' time lapse film with English intro.
This version features original score by Vladimir Persan and it is simply PHENOMENAL. Hats off to you my friend!
Do yourself a favour and watch this film with high quality speakers because the music Vlad composed truly deserves to be heard in all of its glory.
Hook your computer to multi-media speakers, home stereo, TV or headphones but DO NOT, for the sake of all that is holy, listen to the sound on the laptop's crappy built-in speaker or just as unforgivably; muted!!
I’d like to thank Timesand Studios for their support on this project. I absolutely must thank Vladimir Persan for his help and the time and efforts he invested into creating the amazing original score. I would also like to extend my gratitude to the obliging staff of Arabian Construction Company and Arabtec - their project managers were utterly helpful and understanding - and all the safety staff that catered to my every need throughout the shoot. Lastly, I want to extend my super-special thanks to Mr. Ousama Ghannoum, Marketing and Media Director of Aldar. Without his help, this film would’ve never seen the light.
There was quite a media frenzy about this film; below are some of the newspapers, magazines and even TV networks that interviewed me:

Nice to see the results you got with LRTimelapse. Thank you very much for the credits!
I hope that you won't stop developing LR Timelapse because it has such an amazing potential!
And the music as well, great job! = )
We're not worthy! We're not worthy!

Your piece is visually stunning and...the soundtrack just...takes it to another level entirely. I would like to know which stringed instrument Vladimir Persan used at 2:44...was it a Koto? I will also have to check out Gunther's 'LR TIMELAPSE' application as well...!! Keep up the great work Beno. Thank you.

LR Timelapse is the best, I'm not kidding. Forget everything else on the market - Gunther's application blows them all away
cheers
Beno
Best wishes Beno.
Gerry.

Some shots are very impressive
I have two questions:
1. Around how many files is the raw work you made?
2. How you like this Canon G11, and why choose it exactly?
One again - outstanding work! I will stay tuned for you future works.
Stefan
First part of the music was not composed by Vlad Persan, it is stock music, that's why the transition isn't as smooth as I wanted it to be. As you know (or not), this was a ZERO budget production and there's only so far you'll go for free...I'll definitely try to work with proper funding on my second film and few have already offered to help me out. I want my next project to be as good as it can be, without compromises.
to answer your questions:
1. About 30,000 files, give or take few hundred
2. G11 was outstanding!! very little or no noise during night shots. Small size allowed me to shoot on the street level while maintaining low-profile. It's easy to carry around, it is inconspicuous and produces outstanding image quality if your output is HD with plenty of resolution leeway for gentle push/pull/pan in post.
Fully articulated display was also indispensable for composing low-level and overhead shots. I hope to see it on 5D Mark 3 too and all future Canon DSLRs.
thanks for watching Stefan!
cheers
Beno
Best,

Quick question if I may? What exposure and interval combination would you recommend for night time traffic shots to get that gorgeous blur?
I'm planning a timelapse using my 7D and would love n advice. Were you shooting with aperture priority or just manually exposing for each shot?
Thank you for your time :)
Interval - that's a purely creative call and there's no right or wrong. Some like to show very long streaks of lights which call for 30s or longer exposures.
I like to show movement as fluid as water and for that, you need low intervals...say from 1s to 4s maximum. For slower scenes such as grand vistas of the city with few cars, you may want to accelerate perception of time with 15s intervals.
hope that helped
