Statement
In response to the moon’s constant presence and cyclical affects on our world, This Strange Phase is an installation of projected animations, sound and gridded paintings that host mournful vocals, poetic fragments and animated activities affected by lunar patterns.
The installation is a collaboration between Caleb Coppock, Daphne Eck and Bethany Kalk of Peerless. (wearepeerless.com)
Biographies
Caleb Coppock is a painter, sculptor, animator, designer, satellite imagery voyeur, beachcomber, and jeweler’s loupe junkie. He tirelessly searches for the glitch, the pattern, the poetic gem in what is otherwise often overlooked in this ocean of natural and digital information. (calebcoppock.com)
Daphne Eck is a writer, creative thinker and project wrangler. As a child, she often tried to get lost in her family’s organic almond orchard but the straight rows always led her home. The solitude of growing up in the country allowed her space to wander and read, both of which developed her love for a great story. (daphnedel.com)
Bethany Kalk is a painter, musician and photographer who grew up in the jungles of Papua New Guinea. She spent many hours submerged to her nose, watching creek creatures up close. She tracked insects, lizards and birds and watched ephemera on the forest floor decay almost overnight. She imitated the vocals of the local tribe until she got them right. (bethanykalk.com)
