Fort Desoto Park: North Beach's Diverse Habitat for Birding
11 months ago
North Beach at Fort Desoto County Park in St. Petersburg, Florida is one of the best birding locations in the USA. It is located on the Gulf of Mexico and Tampa Bay.
There are many different habitats in the park. This video shows the area of North Beach just beyond the lifeguarded swimming area. Here you can see birds that frequent the Gulf beach, the dunes, mangroves, tidal lagoons, mud flats, and bays. Peregrine falcons can be seen chasing the many shore birds. Bald Eagles, White Pelicans, and many shore and wading birds are easily visible.
